Cornell Tech - The Big Red Show
DVXI created a spec for Cornell Tech’s first-ever late-night talk show, blending comedy, interviews, and cinematic storytelling to establish a content media format for the school.
The Big Red Show is Cornell Tech’s first student-produced late-night talk show, developed and launched by DVXI to highlight the school’s creative energy, founder culture, and interdisciplinary talent. The format combines late-night monologues, guest interviews, and narrative sketches, creating a cultural centerpiece for the student body.
Episode 1 launched on November 1st, 2024, featuring a full late-night structure produced entirely by DVXI.
Overview
Objective
Cornell Tech lacked a signature media format that embodied its personality — innovative, artistic, and collaborative. Our objectives were to:
Create an iconic, repeatable show that represents Cornell Tech to prospective students, partners, and NYC’s broader tech ecosystem.
Build a creative platform for students to express themselves through comedy, storytelling, and performance.
Develop a flexible production system that future student teams can run with.
Position DVXI as the creative engine behind Cornell Tech’s student-led media.
Approach
Creative Development
Conceived a late-night show format inspired by AgentW’s cinematic, heist-like storytelling
Wrote monologue, interview structure, and a narrative sketches
Established the visual and tonal identity: comedic, cinematic, and founder-driven
Production Setup
Transformed the Cornell Tech MakerLab into a temporary TV studio
Designed lighting, audio, and camera configurations for consistent aesthetic quality
Directed performers and managed day-of show operations
Filming & Post-Production
Shot monologue, interview, and sketch elements over several days
Edited all segments into a cohesive late-night episode
Added motion graphics, branded elements, and polished color grading
Launch & Rollout
Published 3 Episodes on Youtube & Internal Communications
Released reels and micro-content to build awareness
Set up a repeatable production workflow and Officer Team plan for Episode 2+
